When JaGeX finds something to be broken, they remove it. Having multiple 3rd Party clients allows JaGeX to give the broadest amount of usability and requested features, without having to risk that they would be denied in a poll, and without having to actually create them themselves - giving them access to retaining the largest amount of players since specific clients will appeal to different people. This is exactly what they have been doing since the existence of OSRS, and what they should continue to do. Not to mention that every feature they added to the client would need to be polled.Īllowing 3rd Party Clients to exist and do things that (JaGeX) perceives as balanced is the best way to proceed. JaGeX doesn't have, or isn't willing to put forth the resources needed to create a decent Official Client - and why should they? These clients already exist and are broadly used, and have helped to make OSRS playable for thousands of people that otherwise probably wouldn't be able to get past some of the more dated features of OSRS. These are the primary features provided by 3rd Party Clients. People are way more interested in readability, ease of access, usability, and information/statistics than ever before. The tastes of the average gamer in 2017 is way different from the tastes of the average gamer in 2007. How they deal with 3rd Party clients is one of the things that has changed - in my opinion for the better. They have shifted their core values tremendously (remember when your monetary status in real life wasn't supposed to affect your in game abilities?).
